There is estimated to be seven thousand children living on the streets of Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, many of whom are victims of the legacy
of the Rwandan genocide.

Some of the children photographed have been orphaned by Aids, or their parents were murdered or are in prison accused of committing acts of genocide. Often street children were the result of the numerous incidences of rape perpetrated during those turbulent 100 days in 1994.

Many are now helped by Rwandan charities that aim to care for, accommodate and educate the children, and provide them with medical
and psychological support.
